Dr. Katherine Younger is Research Director of the program Ukraine in European Dialogue at the Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna. She also teaches at the Vienna School for International Studies (Diplomatische Akademie). She received her PhD in history from Yale University and her AB in government from Harvard University. Her research explores practices of international politics in the long 19th century, with a particular focus on the relationship between religion and power. Most recently, she edited The Universe Behind Barbed Wire: Memoirs of a Soviet Ukrainian Dissident by Myroslav Marynovych (University of Rochester Press, 2021). Her current book project looks at the role of the Greek Catholic/Uniate Church in European politics from the Partitions of Poland to the turn of the 20th century.
